Soul Of An Oak Leaf is the first in a new line of fine silver jewelry. Most, if not all Native American tribes believe each living thing has a soul, and this necklace is a tribute to the leaf which was sacrificed in the making of the piece. Fine silver clay slip (silver particles contained in a binder material which feels like clay to the touch, but burns off to create a piece of 999 pure fine silver) was made just the right thickness and painted in over 15 layers onto a real oak leaf. The process to create one of these is very time-consuming and goes through a long process of filing, sanding, sometimes multiple firings, attachment of handcrafted components, patination, and setting of stones.

Quite fittingly, I chose a fine pink Tourmaline cabochon to set at the very top of the leaf, and achieved a patina that looks as though the leaf were turning bronze/gold/copper in fall. You may not fully be able to tell from the picture, but there is a slight irridescence in certain spots (especially down near the bottom of the leaf).

A handcrafted slide is hidden just behind the top of the leaf, and is strung onto a genuine 5 mm. braided leather cord. It has sterling silver end caps and a handcrafted Sterling hook. (The local customer bought a 16" bali sterling woven chain at an additional charge instead of the leather braided cord, so some of the photos show the leaf on that chain so you can see the options available).

The necklace measures 18", and the leaf is 3 1/2" long from tip to tip.

Note: This particular necklace was sold to a local buyer, but feel free to inquire about custom orders. I have access to many kinds of leaves and can customize the stone you would like.
