| Have ventured out in the world at 48 and faced my biggest fear: selling on line. Can anyone give me any advice that may calm the nerves? Thanks a bunch. I love designs to love. There are so many talented artist and crafters! Looking to meet all of you and welcome any knowledge you may have that you think will help. Have a great week of sales.

Hi Carolinacrafter!
I just joined designstolove, yesterday. But I can tell you that selling online is somewhat painless! (except for possibly your wallet!) The best thing about it is, you don`t see the faces as they are looking at your (stuff),so albeit good/bad, if it`s bad, you never know! It can be costly if you don`t educate yourself. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way for awhile before I found `cheaper` avenues of internet selling. There are MANY talented crafters, but join the crowd! I`m sure you will find your market! One of the best tips I can give you is to check out a totally handmade marketplace, that you may/may no have heard of called, Etsy. That is where my shop is, I`ll give you the link. www.etsy.com .It is very user friendly, inexpensive and fun! You can look at other shops there and see what you think. You get the shop free, it costs only 20 cents to list an item! They (etsy) takes a percentage of your selling price once the item sells, but it`s a nominal fee (don`t remember exactly maybe 2% or something like that). Here is a link to my shop (jewelry) http://jwlrywrkroom.etsy.com Be mindful of this though-PLEASE- be careful when choosing your user name-even if your not opening a shop right now- because- your stuck with it! For instance if you chose a user name of say-carolinacrafter- and you ever decided to open a shop and in the shop you sold umm say, ladies undergarments???? get the idea here! I read ALL the time on the forums at Etsy of people who want to change there username and you CANNOT! Just be mindful of that! Now, have I given you too much information? I hope not. I just like to help people who are (new) to the marketplace! Have a great day! Pat

| Hi Carolinacrafter! I also started out in the online world at the age of 48 - I am now 49. It has opened up a whole new world for me. I also have my store on Etsy. It is a wonderful site. I have learned though that the best way to promote your online craft business is by promoting it off line (craft fair, home show parties, etc.) There is alot to learn. I would suggest joing Etsy and going thru the forums. (I found out about designstolove thru the etsy forums.) You might also want to open up a flickr account. Good luck to you!
