Etsy (24 posts) - Posted On : 18 Oct 2006 11:13 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
i`ve been on etsy since the beginning of the summer.

i can tell you that the secret is listing everyday. possibly once in the middle of the day and once in the evening. that way, you stay on the front page.
also, messing about on the forums is very helpful, because it`ll get you shop views.
especially the promotions & critiques forum. it`s specifically MADE for self promotion, so you can go all out there.

i`ve had fun. haven`t sold a bunch, but then, i wasn`t really expecting to. i knew that the jewelry category was pretty saturated, but i don`t know how to do anything else, so i stick with what i know.
it`s fun, and if you aren`t trying to make a living out of it, it`s even better. cause there`s no stress.

oh! my shop is here: http://yoboseiyo.etsy.com
/shameless plug.

What features would you like? (24 posts) - Posted On : 29 Sep 2006 02:42 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
hi, i only have 1 suggestion.
and edit feature.
so you can change the title/description on your design if you need to. that way, you don`t have to remove the item and re post it. it would make it a lot easier if you want to say that something has sold, but that you`re willing to make more on request kind of thing.
ya know?
could I get some advice...? (6 posts) - Posted On : 29 Sep 2006 02:39 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
ya know, i had that problem when i started out too.

what i did was i started tying my knots around a needle, that way, i could get rid of all the extra, and THEN tighten the knot. it works pretty well. you could also get one of those knotters for tying knots inbetween beads. those work well i hear.
How do you store your beads? (36 posts) - Posted On : 29 Sep 2006 02:37 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
wow, yall are all so organised.

i`m all messy.

i don`t actually have a specific place in the house that is mine to craft in, so i have everything in tote containers from craft and hobby stores.
they kinda suck for what i wanna do. the only up side is that i can carry them around easily.
I have a question (7 posts) - Posted On : 29 Sep 2006 02:30 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
i think that your fine.

i also look at those magazines (mostly in the checkout line) and i use the designs as jump off points all the time.
sometimes i try to reproduce the same thing, as practice, and then i take it apart and make something else from the pieces.

so i think you`re good. if anyone has a problem, you can always give them the credit later, it`s not like you knew it was their copyright when you made it, especially if you only glanced at the original design.

yo. a pair of slush cutters like this can help:

http://www.joanns.com/catalog.jhtml;$sessionid$AGZVRXAAAEURKP4SY5LRHOR50LD3UEPO?CATID=101641&PRODID=132311

or these:

i know what they SAY they are, but they oughta work well. it`s also best to work with cutters that have good springs, because that will give more force to your cut, and it`ll make the cuts smoother. also, there`s no harm iin doing a little bit of filing to make the ends line up correctly.
