What do you do? (26 posts) - Posted On : 03 Oct 2006 04:02 AM Edit Post | Report Spam
Well I once was a therapist and private practise hypnotherapist. Then I was a travelling show selling my art. After that came my present life as a bead wholesaler, jewelry maker, bead show roady and a stay at home mom.

The Home Jewelry BusinessSuccess Resource posted a jewelry making tip I submitted. That was mighty nice of them!

Beads, beads everywhere - and I can`t find a one!
Szarka from Turquoise Magpie sent in a great, easy bead organizing tip:

I discovered a great way to organize my beads and have them where I can see them. I purchased a bag of metal shower curtain hooks from the local hardware store and I hung strands of beads on them. I place all the similar colored strands on one hook. All the blues together. All the yellows together.

Then I nailed some finishing nails into the side of my work bench and I hung them all there. I also have a book shelf in front of my bench and I did the same.
Now when I am making a piece of jewelry I can see what colors and shapes I have while I am in the design stages.

I cut the strand open, take off the number of beads I need, and tie it up again or use a crimp bead to close it up so I can hang it right back onto the hook.

No more digging through bead boxes. Well I still have those for beads that are not strung so I labelled those clearly with what is inside.

My jewelry making is much happier now!
