Online Indie Shops (14 posts) - Posted On : 04 Dec 2006 11:14 AM Edit Post | Report Spam
I`ve been browsing indie online shops for months trying to find stores that will host my jewellery for a little extra cash. So far in the first two months of being in a couple stores I have not sold anything...

I`ve been thinking about having my own store like these where fellow artists can have their work up to sell but I`m wondering how well these shops do? Do people even buy online?

Thoughts anyone?

I meant this not to be advertising for etsy - there is already a thread for that... I mean actual indie boutiques that sell a select number of varied artists.

Don`t go the pop-up route or I will officially have to stop visiting!!! Haha even pop-up blockers don`t catch them all. But google`s ads I do not mind so much as long as they are at the top or bottom of the pages instead of in amongst everything (I always find it hard to find what I`m looking for and end up accidentally clicking on google stuff)...

I wouldn`t mind paying a couple bucks a month to have my own rotating banner on the site (one of those small button type ones) ... maybe other users would do the same - really cheap like $1/$2 per month which if everyone did would certainly help the costs.

I recently got engaged and I was exploring all these interesting handmade greeting cards/invitations and I would really like to learn. I absolutely love the style of the `smile` card by Sillyduckie - simplistic and beautiful. I`d like to learn how to make this sort of thing for my invitations - what type of adhesive you use, how you finish with ribbons & decals...

Thanks so much!
How do you store your beads? (36 posts) - Posted On : 21 Sep 2006 07:35 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
If I had a wall unit/shelving - and space that was all my own it`d be full I swear! But so far I`ve just used these small organized bins meant for thread or beads. They seem to work quite well and certainly easy to move around!
Can I get a few opinions please.... (15 posts) - Posted On : 21 Sep 2006 07:30 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
My first reaction is how painful this would be with all the hugging and contact that goes on at weddings.. seems very sharp and out there... If anything i would push the wire back - like a tiara for your arm that hugs but doesn`t point out.
could I get some advice...? (6 posts) - Posted On : 21 Sep 2006 07:28 PM Edit Post | Report Spam
I always end up over-judging how much wire I need for my jewellery - it really sort of depends on the item in regards to finishing the end. There are knot covers that you can buy in bead stores that hide the knot at the end of your string - or in my case wire I just loop around and fasten with crimps...

Not sure if this helps!

Wonderful idea for a website and it looks fabulous! I am so honoured to be invited to join - designers really need this sort of site to gather ideas and keep the inspiration flowing!
